چکیده

This paper presents cross-validation of nearly simultaneous observations between the Temporal Experiment for Storms and Tropical Systems -Demonstration (TEMPEST-D) RainCube (Radar in a CubeSat) satellite microwave sensors over precipitation systems. senses atmosphere using Ka-band nadir-pointing radar, TEMPEST-D multi-frequency millimeter-wave radiometers. Nine systems were used this study. Occurring two-year period, these storms scattered many regions world from Tropics to mid-latitudes. A shift correction algorithm was developed remove uncertainty two sensors' due time difference storm motion instrument overpasses. Correlation coefficients calculated self-normalized, inverted cumulative reflectivity self-normalized brightness temperatures. As expected, correlation are consistently higher four high-frequency channels than single low-frequency channel. The improved average coefficient by 19% 58% after is 0.76 TEMPEST-D's 0.54 comparisons demonstrated high consistency observations, even though fundamental physics different; one passive, other active.

Validation of ERA-Interim Precipitation Estimates over the Baltic Sea

European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ERA-Interim reanalysis total precipitation estimates are validated against ten years of in situ precipitation measurements onboard of ships over the Baltic Sea. A statistical analysis for binary forecasts and mean rain rates derived from all data show a good agreement with observations. However, a closer look reveals an underestimation ...

construction and validation of the translation teacher competency test and the scale of students’ perceptions of translation teachers

the major purpose of this study was to develop the translation teacher competency test (ttct) and examine its construct and predictive validity. the present study was conducted in two phases: a qualitative phase as well as a quantitative phase. in the first phase of the study, the author attempted to find out the major areas of competency required for an academic translation teacher. the second...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

Tempest: Temporal Dynamics in Anonymity Systems

Many recent proposals for anonymous communication omit from their security analyses a consideration of the effects of time on important system components. In practice, many components of anonymity systems, such as the client location and network structure, exhibit changes and patterns over time. In this paper, we focus on the effect of such temporal dynamics on the security of anonymity network...

Cloud radar observations of precipitation

An innovative method for the observation of vertical air motion and raindrop size distribution in precipitation using a 94-GHz Doppler radar is demonstrated in this paper. The method is particularly appealing since it is based on fundamental physics, the scattering of microwave radiation by large particles (Mie scattering). Observations from stratiform rain are presented to illustrate the poten...
